Livin' by Faith

"Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof." -Mathew 6:25-34

I have always loved these verses.  This month I quoted them to myself a lot!  At the beginning of the month, we had no idea how we would have enough money for food, rent, bills, etc.  Now that it's the end of the month I look back and can't believe how much God has provided for us.  We haven't starved, our bills are paid, and we actually are better off now then we were at the beginning of the month!

He even provided some "wants."  Ever since Abby was born we have been using an old bookcase to keep her clothes in.  We didn't have a dresser and could never seem to find one that fit in our budget.  At the beginning of the month a lady from the church told us she wanted to buy Abby a dresser.  Last week she arrived at our house and dropped this off.  Isn't God amazing!

Abby has almost grown out of her church shoes and she needed some gumboots for outside during the winter.  Yesterday I went to a friend's house and just mentioned that I needed to go and look for some shoes for Abby.  She went into her daughter's room and came back with all these shoes that her daughter has outgrown!

Another want for my husband and I was to be able to go to a preaching conference at the beginning of July in Wellington (3 hours from here).  Last Sunday night someone came to my husband and offered to pay for the petrol for us to go!  The pastor of the church in Wellington has even offered to let us stay in their spare bedroom. We are both looking forward to this little break and to hear some great preaching by Bro. Doug Fisher (from California) and Bro. Robert Bakss (from Australia).

God has been so faithful to provide for us.  We are truly blessed.
